Ram Nath Kovind, lawyer, former MP and governor of Bihar , elected India’s 14th President .
In every 5 years India elected their president by the voting of electoral college voters they are the members of Parliament including both the houses Loksabha and Rajya Sabha it also includes members of Legislative Assembly of all the states . We all knows in the centre we have NDA government which have BJP as the biggest party .
NDA represents Ram Nath Kovind as their Candidate for Presidential Candidate and UPA Alliance represent Meira Kumar.
The voting was held on 17 July Monday and counting takes place today in which National Democratic Alliance’s candidate Kovind secured over 65% of votes over opponent Meira Kumar, who was backed by the Congress and other opposition parties.
If we talk about history of Our new president Ram Nath Kovind so he was Before contesting Presidential elections, he serving as the governor of Bihar. He will be only the second dalit president after K.R. Narayanan since independence to occupy India’s highest Constitutional post of India .
After winning Ram Nath kovind
addresses the nation In his victory speech, Ram Nath Kovind reached out to the farmer and the common man. Mr Kovind said: “It has been raining in Delhi since the morning. Rains remind me of my village, of our kachcha home with walls of mud and a roof that could not repel water during the monsoon. My siblings and I used to stand and wait for the rains to end. Today there are many Ram Nath Kovinds who are getting wet in the rain, working hard, toiling in the fields for one square meal in the evening. Today I want to tell them that I will be their representative in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
Speaking after his victory, President-elect Ram Nath Kovind said, “Me being elected President is a message for a person who has walked on an honest path. Thoughts of serving my nation have brought me this far”. He went on to say that “My job will be to uphold and protect the Constitution of India”.
He also add in His speech
“I salute all the people of India, I never thought that I will become president one day. It was never my goal. But for the country, for society, my hard work has brought me till here”.
“I congratulate and thank opposition candidate Meira Kumar”,”It is a great responsibility to be elected to the post that has been graced by great men like Dr Rajendraprasad, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Shri Pranab Mukherjee”.
